Australian Human Microbiome Biobank · QUT, Brisbane
At AHMB, we are committed to the highest ethical standards in everything we do. The rights, privacy and wellbeing of our donors always come first.
Our Commitments
The Australian Human Microbiome Biobank is conducted by the Centre for Microbiome Research at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and operates under a rigorous ethics framework approved by QUT's Human Research Ethics Committee. Every aspect of how we collect, store and use biological samples is guided by three core commitments.
Your personal details are never shared with researchers. All samples are de-identified before entering the collection, meaning no one who accesses your donated microbes will ever be able to identify you. Your information is stored securely at QUT in accordance with Australian privacy law.
Participation is entirely voluntary. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting our team. We will never use your sample for any purpose beyond what you have agreed to, and you will be kept informed throughout the process.
We provide clear, plain language information about exactly how your sample will be used, who can access it and what your rights are as a donor. We will always be honest and upfront with you before, during and after your involvement with AHMB.
Participant Documents
The documents below explain your rights as a donor and allow you to provide or withdraw your consent to participate. We encourage you to read them carefully before donating. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at admin@ahmb.com.au.
